#CharityAuction: bid to win signed #Sherlock & London 2012 items from composer @DavidGArnold

David Arnold has kindly donated a couple of signed items to a charity auction for Sussex Refugee Solidarity’s Big Auction 2016.

The items are “a score page from the recording session of the original ‘Sherlock‘ theme and soundtrack”, signed by David Arnold, and an Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony commemorative programme (also signed by David, who was the Musical Director).

Sherlock‘ is a British-American crime drama television series based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes detective stories. Created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, it stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson. Ten episodes have been produced, with three-part series airing in 2010, 2012 and 2014, and a special episode airing on 1 January 2016. A fourth series has been commissioned, to begin filming in April 2016 for an intended 2017 release. The series is set in the present day, while the one-off special partly features a Victorian period fantasy resembling the original Holmes stories.

Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony of the London 2012 Summer Olympics, also known as ‘A Symphony of British Music’, was held on 12 August in the Olympic Stadium. The closing ceremony was created by Kim Gavin, Es Devlin, Stephen Daldry, David Arnold and Mark Fisher.

David Arnold is an English film composer best known for scoring five James Bond films, Stargate (1994), Independence Day (1996), Godzilla (1998) and the television series Little Britain and Sherlock. For Independence Day he received a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition Written for a Motion Picture or for Television and for Sherlock he, and co-composer Michael Price, won a Creative Arts Emmy for the score of “His Last Vow”, the final episode in the third series. Arnold is a fellow of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA).
