1. Queue

If you’ve been wondering why tickets for the ‘Arena’ or ‘Gallery’ are unavailable for Prom 41 (Sherlock Holmes: a musical mind, Sunday 16 August 2015 3:30 pm) wonder no more – it’s because they haven’t gone on sale yet. For every Prom 1,350 tickets are released only on the day, from a couple of hours before the concert begins.

This means that if you haven’t got a ticket you haven’t left it too late and you can still get one, for five pounds 🙂 Hooray!

“A limited number of Arena tickets will usually be sold to the front of the day queue from two and a half hours before the performance. The remaining tickets will then be sold from Door 11 (Arena) and Door 10 (Gallery) from 45 minutes before the performance to those queuing (30 minutes for Late Night Proms).

Wheelchair users who wish to Prom should queue in the same way but will be redirected to Door 8 once their ticket has been purchased.”

– see the RAH’s page on ‘Day Promming‘ for more.

The performance starts at 3.30pm so be in the queue before 1pm, though tickets will be sold later on at about 2.45pm too.

Where to queue

In the picture above you want to be in the blue queue (Arena Day queue) for £5 tickets to the downstairs Arena, next to the stage, and in the yellow queue (Gallery Day queue) if you want to watch from the upstairs Gallery. Ignore the green and pink queues, they’re for people with season tickets. The green bit at the top is Hyde Park and Prince Consort Road is next to the Royal College of Music where, from 11am to 2pm, Michael Price will be running a (now full) session on Composing for Film and TV for 12-18 year olds.
