David Arnold’s last two concerts this weekend!
This weekend there are two opportunities to hear David Arnold perform his music with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and David McAlmont (special guest) on his ‘A night at the movies’ tour. I went to the Barbican concert in London last week and it was absolutely brilliant – fantastic music and entertaining stories from David. The first concert is at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall on Friday 26th June and the second’s at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall on Sunday 28th June (click either link for tickets).
The ‘about the concert’ info on the venues’ websites lists the films etc for which he’s composed music, some of them very well-known (Stargate, Independence Day, BBC’s #Sherlock and five of the James Bond films) some of them perhaps less so (I thought the music he played from Four Brothers was particularly lovely) but the text doesn’t really capture the experience of hearing these pieces live, or the audience’s reaction.
After David’s previous concerts I’ve collected together some of the tweets that people wrote during and after (limited wifi at the Barbican so many of the tweets were sent later on). It’s clear that people have hugely enjoyed themselves and you can see more of the Barbican tweets here and tweets and reviews of his previous concerts here.
Here’s an example of some of the films (and a musical) that he’s scored (click the picture to visit the music and soundtracks page on this site).
