Next Thursday (18 June) the composer David Arnold (who has written music for five of the James Bond films, Stargate, Independence Day, Godzilla, Amazing Grace, Stepford Wives and loads more, and co-written the music for Sherlock with Michael Price) will be performing some of his film and TV music, and songs, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Barbican Centre in London. Special guest on vocals is the wonderful David McAlmont.
David’s debut concert in London’s Royal Festival Hall went down an absolute storm last year as did his concerts this year in Dublin and Manchester. There are three of his ‘A Night at the Movies’ concerts remaining, this one in Barbican and another two in Birmingham and Nottingham at the end of June.
Birmingham City Council is offering a couple of free tickets for the Birmingham concert but read on to find out how to win tickets for David’s Barbican concert.
The Barbican is rather well suited to a concert that includes David Arnold’s Bond themes. There’s an on-site Martini Bar on Level 1 which offers a range of martini-based drinks including the Vesper Martini made famous in Casino Royale. This seems like an ideal interval drink (soft drinks also available, always drink responsibly 🙂 ) The Barbican’s Food Hall (Ground Level) has a delicious range of sandwiches and snacks, including Tunnock’s teacakes.
**A few days before the concert (Sunday 14 June, 8pm) there’ll be a screening of Casino Royale at the Prince Charles Cinema in London at which David Arnold will be interviewed by Neil Alcock (@IncredibleSuit)**
